2. PROCESS PHOTOS for reconstruction…and steps:

After the pattern is cut, the separated pieces of cloth are sewn together.

I sew up 4 pieces of the dress patterns, except sleeve section.

Snapshots of process

I tried to make sleeve part with leftover fabrics. So I sewed small pieces together into size of my sleeve pattern.

Snapshots that I am wearing it.

  • 3. WRITTEN REFLECTION -My Project title is Soft red mini dress.  I chose red wool jacket because I was fascinating by the color of it. And the reason why I chose the black long dress from the thrift shop is that I like to research about the history of dress and writing essay about men’s wearing skirt at the seminar class. The first garment has many ruffled details and cape. The texture of it is smooth and hairy. Most of all, it is so soft that it makes me feel good. The black dress has six golden buttons on the front. The color of golden contrast harmoniously with black. The most challenging part of this project was a making and sewing up small pieces into long cloth.  Deconstruction part was the most time-consuming part of this project. Taking apart by small patterns really took long time. On the other hand, after finishing deconstruction, I really enjoyed the moment that shows the cloth changing from jacket to one-piece form. I felt like I become a professional designer. The most satisfied part of this project is that it can fit into my body with almost perfect fit. I can wear it in daily life. Before I start this project, I could not imagine how it’s going to be. It was surprised that I finally made the short mini dress from the totally different shape of clothing. through the project, I learned about how I can deal with hard situations such as managing industrial machine or when I was short in fabric. As a result, I learned a lot of things from the project. before I start this project, I thought clothing with raw edges or stitch line on fabric looks unfinished and low-quality. But, way I think about design is totally changed through the project. Each cloth has their own uniqueness. It doesn’t have to be clear or clean, rough edge or sewing line on fabric can be a design element itself.
