Artist Statement Kevin Sikorski

I would describe myself as a fashion, portrait photographer. That being said, my work is constantly shifting in the ways of which I express myself. I am from a small town in Connecticut. While growing up there, I began to explore my environment taking self-portraits, then having my friends pose for me, which allowed me to discover my love of taking photographs of people.

Moving to NYC allowed many more opportunities to come my way. My passion and drive for taking photographs push me to shoot multiple times a week. I now work with modeling agencies taking digital photographs of both female and male models. I find inspiration for my work from other artists primarily through photographers and models I follow on Instagram which is where I first started sharing my photographs. Other inspiration I find from interior design and light. All of my photographs are location based and focus on how the model can compliment or contrast the environment. Lighting can create abstract shapes and I like to use this to add to the photograph to create a mood in my work.
