BRAINSTORMING:
For this quick project, I wanted to use the opportunity to have access to such an advanced tool to make something useful: a jewelry box. Right now, in my dorm, is a bowl with a knot of necklaces, bracelets, hoop earrings, and safety pins lying in it. Instead, I want to make a wooden box with a linear pattern cut out on the top so that the contents are slightly shown.
PROCESS:
I made my design in illustrator, and it took two trials for my design to come out the way I had hoped. At first, my wood was too thick, and the laser didn’t cut all the way through.
After it finally worked, I used a wood stain to darken the wood, and painted the inside and bottom black to make it look more finished.
