Bridge 2: Hybrid

PROCESS:

We first did individual research, and put together a powerpoint together.

We then designed our individual pieces separately, and split up the workload on the necklace. First, we discussed what we each had in mind for the design. Then, Sharon cut pieces of wood in the wood shop, and I painted them and assembled the necklace.

CRITIQUE NOTES:

  • How would the hybrid change if given an unlimited budget and unlimited time? Would you change the materials used?
    • I would use plexiglass for the necklace, and mirror shards for the painting.
  • Painting
    • Incorporates 3d element
    • Color choices are spot on
    • Creates a good balance (doesn’t overshadow the necklace piece/ vice vera)
    • The portrait creates more perspective with the entirety
  • Posters:
    • A reflection, incorporates the entire body
    • Use of fish fins due to the juxtaposition of the beauty
    • The similarity of subject, but creates a different atmosphere
  • Which is most hybridized?
    • The poster with the fish fins could be the one that hybridized the most.
    • If it were made, that piece of jewelry would be interesting and sculptural
  • The middle jewelry piece could be seen as just a giant necklace, not as successful as a hybrid
