Timeline Final

For this project, my concpet was quite personal, to create a documentary style film of my life as a form of timeline. And to project it over sculptures to show the contrast between static and dynamic as the way I precieve time is as both static and dynamic. The original plan was to document all three stages of life: childhood, adulthood and old age- portraying a lifetime as a timeline. However, it was difficult to obtain videos from all three stages and make a film that looked cohesive and belonged to one person, thus I decided to make it about my life up until now, to depict a rather nostalgic and reminiscent feel to it.

I started by finding a bunch of clips and videos over the years and compiled them into Premiere Pro. I then chose a sound/ music that I wanted in the back, something that is not too sad but creates a sense of nostalgia. I slowed down and sped up some to match the beats in the music and to show how some memories stay longer and some come in flashes.

I then made my sculpture head by putting clay over a paper mache ball and adding the facial features, and using clay tools to sculpt details. Once the sculpture was done, I added some plants to it to show age and destroyed it a bit to show deterioration. For the final presentation, I made a backdrop and projected the film over the sculpture.
