For this project, we have to choose 4-5 artists from a field of study that we are inetersted in and choose one to focus on as our creative mentor. We studied the artist, their works and techniques and reasons we are drawn towards their work.

Process-
I analysed and experimented with the painting on procreate, to study the organic shapes and motifs in order to paint it. Also looked at the colour palette to buy the correct colours. I used a grid method in order to draw out the shapes accurately.
Painted layer by layer and blotted in teh darkest colours first before working to lighter values.
Reflection-
Doing this project was very inspiring and a great learning experience. Louise Zhang is an artist I only learned of recently and have been so drawn to her paintings because of how different her style is compared to mine. Looking and analysing one of her paintings in depth helped me see a different approach to painting and pushed me to try a new style. Even the colour palette I used for this piece was very out of my comfort zone, I usually stick with what I see and have always wanted to experiment with colour which is why Louise Zhang was a good artist for me to learn from- she focuses on changing the narrative of her paintings through colour.
If I were to have this project again, I would’ve liked for a bit more time as oil paint takes a long time to dry and my painting, the colours do not look as vibrant as the original as the colours slightly blended with the layer below because it did not dry properly.
