The Neighborhood Still Life

I chose to visit Union Square in order to take the still life pictures. I think that Union Square holds a variety of activities and a range of events that can be photographed artistically and in abundance. Everyone is up to something, or something could be done, making it a perfect space to take photos. For example, a man was selling a bunch of classic comic books along with old DVDs. Also, there were two men playing a game of chess, which seemed interesting to snap a photograph of.

After editing the pictures I took, and converting them into black and white, I have concluded that the “Book stand” image is probably the strongest image in terms of composition and value… The photo has a grid composition, making it easy to split into lots of squares when drawing. Also in that image, we can see a blackest black, as well as a whitest white, showing a range of values.
