Taking studio/art classes throughout the years has helped me expand my artistic abilities, giving me the ability to improvise and create new pieces. In class, I was instructed to take out my sketchbook, supplies, and two hours to make a creative piece. There was no theme, no specific instructions, and just time. Doing this, it helped me think more artistically and creatively on how I could make my projects unique and interesting. In John Zorn’s performance of “Khebar”, you can see that the men are going with whatever sounds good and adding onto more from that, similar to what I did when making my pieces. I would start making random lines or brush stroke and add onto more from there. After doing this multiple times, I learned that I was expanding my ability to improvise and create pieces that were creative.
