Rear Window (Dir. Alfred Hitchcock)

In the movie Rear Window, directed by the infamous Alfred Hitchcock, he portrays a beautiful depiction of class and beauty through its fashion. Starring the iconic Grace Kelly, she is able to convey her sophistication, class, beauty, and seduction through her character Lisa Carol Fremont, in which the way she dresses. At the first point of the film when she is first presented, she is seen wearing a simplistic Y silhouette dress that frames her figure. Not only the outfit, but accessories that compliment her look helps her show the audience the type of persona she is trying to mimic. Her single strand pearl necklace and bracelet goes nicely with her natural makeup and bright red lip. It helps deliver the point that Grace Kelly’s character is from somewhat of a high class and sophistication. Rear Window does a good job at showing the differences in class through their fashion. The main character L.B. Jeffries, played by James Stewart, makes it apparent that he does not like to associate himself with the higher class. Throughout the film, he is seen in pajamas all day because of his broken leg. Although he is seen wearing the same pair of pajamas, the audience is able to tell that he seems to be a part of the middle working class, which Lisa seems to be a part of the higher class. Her transitions through different outfits portrays the elegance of her character.
