Drawing Imaging – Social Issue: Mind Map, MoodBoard and Collage

My social issue the rise of hate crimes in the UK with the onset of Brexit. With my mind map, it started off with a blurb in Racism and Racial tensions, however, as I began writing things down into the page, I realised that though race was a large factor, it was starting to show as more of an issue of nationalism. Key figures in the discussion like Nigel Farage began to show up and that led to the mood board. The mood board has images that are, personally, overwhelmingly negative. Apart from the Empire Windrush, which brought over thousands of immigrants, and tower blocks which are landmark in social housing in the UK. With the mood board, the tone for the collage was one that was set to be harsh and brutal. The Empire Windrush and the tower blocks serving as the background for the chaos that is piled on top. A heavy contrast in colour with the Eastern European bloc of countries highlighting the tension between conservative brits and immigrant workers. The images in the bottom half of the collage serving to show the viewer a glimpse of what has been and what more is to come.
