Book1: How color Affects Food Choices. By Costa Magoulas

Color has a very strong influence in the foods we close to eat because of this is the first feats in the eyes. I learned about how color affects the people’s choices through out this book And I want to use in my project because two of my domains are food and color, it kind give me a better understanding of color and it’s emotional affect also it helps me on preparing the  direction of  my concept statement and  final project.

Book 2: A Psychology of Food More Than  a Matter of Taste. By Bernard Lyman

This book shows me the facts of food preferences, eating, and food behavior conform in many ways to the general principles of psychology. such as the shape, color, taste, texture and odor. I will be using this book on color and food selection, because of this book helps me to understand the psychology way of food choice,  also it has impact the direction of my project such as food choice, because of each food will going to have psychology way on human impact.

Book 3: Color Psychology  and Color Therapy: A Factual Study of the Influence of Color on Human Life. By Faber Birren

This book talked about the biological and emotional uses of color in all phases of human existence, everything that on earth has their own color and it is no doubt that they affect to people’s life everyday. I will be using this book on two of my domains: color and emotion, because of it talked about color psychology and color therapy, this way I can made my audience to understand what concept that I am trying to develop, It affect my direction on color choice for my final project  because now I have a better understanding of color psychology.

PROTOTYPE

My first prototype is an art work that is made by different combination of foods. I used green onion, garlic bolt, white radish, cheese, candy and a pair of sunglass to achieve the goal of  showing emotion through different foods and different colors. It is kind like a collage but was made by foods. The goal of this prototype is to testing different foods combination, to see how can I use food to collage different facial expression of emotions.  I am interested in finding out with this prototype, because it is fun to play around with foods and to be create with whatever combination you want, there is no limit for this prototype. For this prototype, I am addressing with materials and emotional response so this prototype require observers because of I will need feedback from about 5 people to see if it is the right combination for one particular facial expression of emotion. It take me only five mins to finish this prototype . I document this prototype by taking pictures of the process  of composite.

My second prototype is a photograph of few perfume bottles that has different tag on top of it, each tag that has word written on it which match with each of different perfume bottles and the written word was decided by the smell, color and shape of the perfume bottles.  The goal of this prototype is to use another form to explore my three domains and the concept statement, also I’m testing materials and I am testing with a user group because of I need feedback from them and see if they can understand what I am trying to present through out this prototype, the relationship between color, small and emotion, for this prototype, i did not investigate context because it just a photograph.  While I  finding out with this prototype, I am having interest on how does smell with different color can affect people’s emotion. This prototype addressing the aspects of  form, materials, emotional response therefore it will  require observers(about five of them), they can gives me the feedback of what they feel about this prototype. It took me about five mins to finish this and I document this project through my camera. 

My third prototype were cake pops that I made, I used lady finger cracker, butter, food coloring, food flavour, chocolate, pineapple jam and coffee candy for this prototype. Basically what I did was mixed all of materials together and then put inside of cake pop mold, put some jam and candy inside of each cake pop, after that put them in refrigerator about half hour, the last step is to dip in melting chocolate to have a cover layer. The goal for this prototype is to developing the new form of prototype which for this one is a edible concept. I am testing materials also technology through out this prototype, I am exploring the theme because of my three domains are food, color and emotion, which this prototype has been reached all three of domains. I am testing with a user group because I will need feedback from people, I want to know how they think of this prototype and in what way I can get this to be improve, I did not investigating context. Through the process of making this prototype, I learned how to make cake pop, it was a new experience for me so I found out that was interesting, the hardest part is to know the proportion for each materials while you mix them up. I am addressing the form, materials, emotional response in this prototype, it also require participants and observers (about ten of them) so I can know where I can improve and how they think of it. It took me two hours to make this prototype and I document the process of this prototype through my camera.
