CHANGE- BLOG POST SEMINAR

Transformations do come at a cost. With every change we are sacrificing ourselves and who we once were. But we are all transforming ourselves into someone else everyday. Looking at ourselves, we cannot see that we have changed so drastically. Year by year we make what we think to be “improvements” to ourselves. Our physical and mental states are constantly changing in hopes to become “better”. I don’t understand how buying a different wardrobe is making us better human beings. We splurged and bought a new outfit, cut our hair or switched up what cereal we ate for breakfast and because we do so we think that we are someone new, taking on a new persona in a sense. But it is true that changing ones physical appearance is the first step to changing themselves.

Change is healthy and it is normal but it is hard to accept. My friend talked to me a few hours ago about how she wanted to change everything about herself and she didn’t know why, how New York is influencing her to want to be a different person. Not only her physical appearance but also her mental state, her ideas and opinions she had come with are now completely altered. Especially when we put ourselves into a new environment we don’t realize how it affects us. Even changing what room one works in can completely alter their mood and how they work. Location plays a huge role into how we interact with people and the environment. I think that change is part of living and we must accept it.
