MONEY- BLOG POST SEMINAR

Why do I design? And if I design is it for function or for appeal? Everything now a-days seems to be mostly visual because we are drawn to attractive things. Function is very important though, but we seem to not care as much as we did before about this. It is our job as designers to create objects that function effectively but also have a visual appeal. But why do designers design? Is it to be more inventive, to have an impact or to merely make money? It seems that now all anyone wants to do is make pretty things and become wealthy. What happened to the dream of having a family and being able to support yourself, maybe I am old fashioned but all I hear now is that all they need in life is money and it doesn’t fit into what my life goals are. We live in a greedy world where we are always in the state of “wanting”. Once we get what we have been wanting, we want something else it is an endless cycle. We will never be able to satisfy ourselves. Even if we are doing a job that we love at the end of the day we need and want money. Whether we want to admit it or not, money is what makes the world go round and is what we need in order to sustain ourselves.
