Pop tarts

For representing a space from my childhood , I chose to represent  the corner of my bedroom , which was next to my window. As I would spend a lot of time there as a child. 

 

I wanted to represent the sort of feelings that I would have in this space. So I focused on portraying that rather than the space itself. I chose to do this through making the space a makeshift tent using fabric I printed on. I chose to represent some memories through the colour of the fabric and what I printed on it .

 

I chose to print some bold graphics that I Rember as a child. Such as the pop tarts logo , jemima puddle duck a fictional character from a book I used to read and aunt jemima pan cake mix.

 

I was also inspired by the tent from the wesanderson movie the royal tannenbaums.

 

 

 

I also decided to paint on some of the fabric to show how the place would also be a creative place for me.

I placed inside the tent some ornaments that I find to me also to be very reminiscent of the space. As well as a toaster in which I used to toast  the pop tarts, as this smell was very reminiscent of my childhood. I also placed a rose as my mother would always have roses in the house. As well as a cream called sudocream which are both smells that bring me back to my childhood.
