Museum of City of New York

The exhibit at the Museum of city of New York was an interactive gallery with many screens. It talked about how New York could increase its natural environment and cope with changing a climate. A healthy environment and access to nature are very important to a healthy life. A another take away from this gallery is that climate change is directly linked to immigration. In the gallery is shows who immigrated where typically. In Brooklyn there is a large Trinidadian population. The more people there are in an area the more pollution in that area. Its very important to place a sanitation emphasis on those areas, that way we can stop issues before they start. When my parents first moved here from Trinidad they lived and Brooklyn, the research in the gallery directly resonated with me. When I lived in Brooklyn the streets were always filled with cars and that would make it difficult for sanitation workers to take out trash, the streets were filled with litter most of the time. In addition the garbage cans at the corner of the street never had a cover. The ineffective garbage cans lead to pollution because when wind would blow they would just fall over. This gallery made me realize how important design is to curing global warming. A simple trash can could save a block from a lot of pollution. The gallery also had what if questions, posing questions to the audience. This is a good way of accumulating ideas for solutions. Overall the Museum was nicer than I expected, I am from New York and I have never been.
