Dress Practice Interview
For my dress project I interviewed my friend Allie who is 19 years old and lives in New Jersey. Over the days of doing research on her outfit choices i’ve realized she doesn’t plan her outfits in advance and has a very simple and casual taste in clothing. I’ve noticed that she doesn’t keep her clothing very organized. For example when she was trying to show me one of her favorite shirts she would have to dig into her drawer to find the shirt. Another thing I realized about her is that she keeps her outfits choice very simple and only picks outfits which she thinks looks good on her. She only likes her polaroid shirt because it looks good on her and she’s not a fan of wearing skirts because she doesn’t think it looks good on her. She doesn’t spend too much time coordinating her outfits properly she would spend about 10 to 15 minutes every morning getting dressed. She has more of a laid back kind of style unlike for myself who would spend an hour planning my outfit in the morning and spending a lot of time in the clothing store trying to find an outfit that goes together. In Sophie Woodward’s article she mentions “the lack of time to organize the wardrobe often leads to clothing being stuffed rather than folded or items such as handbags and shoes colonizing the undesignated areas of the wardrobe, such as the space at the bottom of the hanging area.” my friend doesn’t organized her drawer very well so she shoves most of her clothing in her drawer which shows me she isn’t organized. Also does not plan what she’s going to wear in advance everyday she would dig in her drawer to find a shirt she likes and wears it. During my research of understanding the body and fashion i’ve realized that most of my friends fashion choices are based on her personality she is a very nice and calm person who wears clothing that makes her feel safe and comfortable.she would wear neutral colors and mostly wear loose clothing. Unlike for other people some they might have a different personality than others some might have an edgy personality and wear something like a leather jacket or boots.
