Ethics: 

  • A person who follows moral principles
  • Moral principle: What is right and what is wrong depending on what is accepted by a group of people or an individual.
  • A person acts and behaves according to their moral principles.
  • Ethics are used to judge a person’s particular actions.
  • Ethics is a process, a way of knowing.
  • There are different type of ethics:
    • Ethic relativism: Morals change according to the principles of different cultures; what is practiced in each society.
    • Divine Command theory: Morals are based on what is commanded by God.
    • Deontology: Morals based on rules, duty and obligations.
    • Utilitarianism: Moral based on what is best to maximize utility. “Utility” usually refers to the well-being of humans and animals
    • Virtue ethics: Based on an individual’s own morals and ethical thinking. Not about the rules but about what and how they act personally.
  • Depends on the person and situation.

Design:

  • The idea, strategy, drawing produced to analyze a building, garment or object’ function before it is created.
  • The action performed before producing a material object. 

Ethical design:

  • Creating something with a purpose based on a person’s morals
  • A concept created by an individual or group in order to solve a problem and create solutions.
  • A purpose is the reason for which something is created.

Need and wants:

  • Create needs, not only wants

Environment:

  • Is it solving a problem or making it worse?
  • Is ecological preservation taken into consideration?

Innovation:

  • To change traditional ways
  • Alternative ways to use something

What are my own virtues?
