LP WK 9/ Submission and Reflection on the Muslin

Describe your concept for the muslin in relation to your topic.

1. What clothing item did you pattern? Why?

I used my old blouse as a reference and redesign it. I designed a new pattern for the sleeves and added extra patterns too.

2. How will you alter/add to the pattern?

I would adjust the two “sleeves parts” on the front, maybe attach them to to the back.

3.How do these choices relate to your topic research?  What is the message behind your design?

I used the illustration I drew last week as a reference. Since my concept is about identity and how designer think out of the box, I try to challenge new ideas such as tightening the sleeves and add fake outerwear using sleeves as pattern. I also try to integrate my identity inside of my design.

4.Use photos of your sketchbook to illustrate your ideas.

Discuss your process in constructing the muslin.

1. What new techniques did you learn?

I learned how to stitch sleeves and to finish a whole garment.

2. What went smoothly? What was challenging?

Stitching the sleeves was very difficult to me, especially to fit the holes perfectly.

3. What construction techniques would be helpful to learn before the final project?

I would practice to sew the sleeves, and make the stitches look better.
4. Use photos of your process to illustrate your ideas.

3. Add photography of the final muslin on a person or dress form. This documentation should focus on the construction of the object, including shots from different angles and details.
