Gender in an Advertisement Brand.

In one of the advertisement I saw for Stuart Weitzman describes two woman. one of the woman is covered in a bunch of blue handbags. While the other is sitting down holding a handbag wearing a black dress and blue heels. On the top of the ad there is a woman’s arm holding a bag. The advertising reinforce the traditional gender norms by the models posing and what they are wearing in the ad. They attracts the woman viewer by the product they are selling which is a common product that most women wear. In Kaisers studies “A single fashion ad featuring a skinny model-further airbrush and photoshopped-is a representation that shapes understanding of beauty and fashion”. When I look at a fashion magazine I see it attract the female viewer because of the products females enjoy than men. They are mostly clothing and beauty products and most of the models in the fashion magazines are mostly woman. In this ad it was to attract the female viewer buy selling handbags. The models are posing with the product with hair and makeup all done. The poses they show can be looked at as if your were a woman being seen in that product. One of them has her hand on her hip while the other one is kneeling down with a bad on her hand. On the top of the ad there is a woman holding her arm out and holding a bag. Which shows it can only be meant for woman.
