I went for a half hour to the store, asking peoples opinion on the market. The general consensus seemed to be that the store was a high quality food market, which I can attest too, coming to the market since it first opened. I always find fresh produce, and nice things you would rarely see in other stores, such as a container filled with pecans. The service is above average, although the employees seem to sometimes struggle to know where something is in the relatively small store.

I looked for reviews of the store, and they agreed with the people I interview, they had a good experience in the store. That said, the nymag reviewer seemed to have a bad experience going to the store and having her vegetable squashed. That hasn’t really happened to me at all, so it just might be a very uncommon accident. The food served is also praised, and honestly it is very good food, if not the healthiest choice in most cases.

Summary

I chose this site because I decided to explore my love of food, and Agata and Valentina has been part of that. It seemed like the love I have for this store is justified, since many others had good experiences in it. I recommend anyone to go and check it out sometime in the future.

Deconstruction

The project I chose was the second project for my Space/Materiality class: a Nested Platonic Solid

This structure is composed of various shapes: Icosahedron, Octahedron, Tetrahedron, Cube, and Dodecahedron.

Building this structure consisted in building each part, and making the next one over it. I used word, acrylic, wire, and construction paper for the pieces (wood: cube, wire: octahedron, acrylic: tetrahedron and dodecahedron, construction paper: icosahedron). The project itself wasn’t so much hard has it was time consuming. I managed to make a small prototype of the star tetrahedron seen above without my teacher’s help. But do to time constrains, I had to use the normal one. I used materials I had become comfortable in when making this piece like wire and paper. Most of it was made of acrylic and wood, having to spend a lot of time in the workshop. I got a basic understanding of acrylic, and also understood better how to use wood in the process. Overall, this was one of the most memorable pieces I did.

Obsession Work

20150710_201126

My image is of my work station, mainly my laptop. I decided to make this image because this is were I have a lot of my work. I received this Macbook early January as a gift for getting into Parsons. At first I wasn’t certain I would like it, since I haven’t had the best experiences using Macs operating system. However, not a year has passed and he has given me great results so far. I spent many hours, working overnight to make many projects throughout the spring semester. While thinking about those nights feels me with dread, It also feels me with a sense of accomplishment.

When I took the laptop to class, my classmate highlight how well-kept it is. I previously haven’t been the best person keeping my last PC safe. It has fallen to the ground various times, and thats something I wanted to avoid this time around. This is my artistic tool, this is how I make my works, and is something very valuable to me personally and professionally.
