Kombucha Leather

1. Brought one gallon of water to a rolling boil.

2. Prepared one cup of white sugar and 6 teabags of ordinary black tea.

3. Added the white sugar and teabags to the water.

4. Boiling

5. Waited the steeped tea and sugar mixture to cool to approximately room temperature.

6. After 30 minutes.

7. After 4 hours. Ready to the next step.

8. Removed the teabags and discarded them.

9. Pouring the tea/sugar mixture from the pot into the plastic container.

10. Added the 2 oz of apple cider vinegar into the tea/sugar mixture container.

11. Stirring the mixture for making all together.

12. Testing the pH with the litmus paper.

13. Compared the color of the paper to the chart.

14. To wear gloves, and prepared the SCOBY.

15. With wearing gloves, and added the SCOBY and the liquid into the cooled tea/sugar/vinegar mixture.

16. Put the lid on the container and store in a dimly lit place. Then waiting, waiting, and waiting again.

17. After 3hours.

28. After 2days. The SCOBY came down.

18. After 4days.

19. After 10 days.

20. 2 weeks later. Microbial leather forming on the surface of brewed tea and sugar mixture.

 

21. Ready to take it out.

22. Smell was so bad, and the taste and texture were so weird.

23. washing it for 2 mins.

24. After 1 day

 

25. After 5 days.

26. The first one is broken so I made the second one. I like the second one better. the color is more pretty, the texture is more smooth, the smell is weak, and more though leather.
