Avatar Studio Class Bridge.1

Project Description:
The purpose of this assignment was to create fifty avatar iterations of ourselves. Through the use of different mediums we were required to illustrate visual representation that helps resemble our avatars.

Materials Used:

Digital media, paper and glue.

Reflection:
This project to me was quite intriguing as it exemplifies the different ways in which one would like to portray themselves. I notice that quite often we as human beings like to create a “perfect portait of our avatar and hide our identity” although creating avatars is not a platform for a beauty contestant we feel, at least that is what I felt, obligated to create a more finer version of myself while making my avatar. This got me thinking if avatars provide people a chance for a second identity?

The first step was to create different Avatars. While I was creating each avatar, I had more questions going through my head like are we not satisfied with being who we are? or In a time where relationships our solely built online are we creating perfect avatar of ourselves because we feel that the impression we make online may have an impact on our lives or grabs one attention. Although the project took me a bit off topic it really did make me think of the impact that our avatars could have on us.
I was also able to create some of my avatars not by my physical appearance but by qualities and emotions. Giving me a wide spread to experiment on. For example, moving into the a new country I would have to be strong and take care of myself hence one of my avatars represents a warrior. Which stands as a metaphor for the barriers that I may face while I adjusting to a new place.
