Reflection:

My question is about my partner’s past, current, and future. The past can let me know about my partner’s personal experience. In this case, it gives me the information about which things are important to her.  Then, I ask a lot about her favourites such as her favourite animal, colour, fruit, and sports. I can make objects which base on her preference. The reaction what she is in a strange place can represent her own personalities. When I ask about her expectations of the future, I want to know her thought of herself development. She wants to have her own clothing brand. It indicates that maybe she wants to develop the fashion area. Because right now she is in photography major. If she needs to create her own brand, I think she will learn a lot about the fashion area. The question that I am interested in “What is your most memorable memory in united states.” Because America is totally new to me. I will face a lot of unknowable problem in a new situation.

After I learn about my partner, I find out that she is a cool girl who is like black. When she faced a difficult situation, she can get the solution quickly and be calm. I am also a homesick person, sometimes I very miss my family. All the time, after I make a phone call with my parents, I feel very sad and miss them. I think it happens a lot between international students. Because we live far away from our hometown. Sometimes I also prefer to stay alone. Because school life is very hard for me. I have classes, finish my homework. I also improve my filming skills. In this case, sometimes staying lone makes me feel relaxed. Newyork is a busy city. It has quick pease. It is good to slow down and keep myself alone.

I will make a wood felt black strawberry. Because strawberry is her favourite fruits. My partner also picked strawberry by herself when she was in China. In the interview, she said:” I like strawberry, and I will go to pick strawberries every strawberry season.”  And Black is her favourite colour. She thinks ” black is a classic colour that never goes out of style.” It also shows her personalities. Moreover, She prefers to be alone. It shows that she is a very independent people. In this case, strawberry represents herself.  I will make two leaves, the first one is green and leaf stalk will be red. Red is the colour of the Chinese national flag. So it represents that when My partner was in China she is happy and she lived in China for a long time. The other leave is smaller and yellow because when she is in America she fell very homesick and miss her mother.”I am homesick; I always miss my family, and I have to talk to my Mom in facetime every day, to tell her what happened to me that day.” Moreover, the leaf stalk is blue which the main colour of the American of the national flag.  the strawberry flower will be white, My partner prefers to stay alone which indicate that she needs blank time for herself to relax and do what every she what. ” I prefer to be alone mostly because I think being alone makes me more comfortable and freer. ” The meterial that I will use is wool felt. It has soft texture which also can repersent my partner’s personality. S

1. How is meaning conveyed by the artist in your selected piece; is it through color? composition? symbols?

In this portrait, there is a man on the Firda’s forehead which represents that Firda is thinking about the man whose name is Diego Rivera. Diego Rivera betrayed her. However, Firda cannot forget him and still love him. In this case, she creates this self-portrait to show her love.

2. How would you express your feelings of being in a new space or culture using specific materials, shapes, or objects? Think of ways to translate something abstract/intangible into a tangibl form

In my own opinion, I will use black and blue as my color, because the first impressions from my friends of mine is a cool and shy girl who I didn’t talk a lot. So I will use this color to represent my reaction. Moreover, the object which I will choose is an unstable case the case means that I’m closing my self when I was in an unfamiliar place. However, once someone talks with me I will have a good feedback instead of keeping shy. 

3. How does the piece you selected relate to your own critical object that you are designing for your partner?

I think they are not related. Because my partner who is my friends know my true personalities. In this case, she is more likely to show my outgoing part. In other hand, she creates an object is base on my favorite so the case is not on the choose 

You are living in a wealthy family. Sometimes, your parents are busy with their own business. However, most of the time, they spend time with you. You don’t need to care about money. You also good at study and have your own interests. You are looking good but not a gorgeous. In the future, the career that you want to choose is based on your own interests. You will have a peaceful and happy life like common people.

Shanghai is your favorite city. You grew up in Shanghai and have many friends. This is your familiar city. Moreover, the advance of a big city is convenient and have a lot of recreational facilities. In this case, When you are bored, you can find a lot of places to play with your friends. Moreover, Shanghai has a lot of chances for you to share your career because it has a lot of companies which create a lot of employment position. In addition, Shanghai is not as crowded as New York. There are a lot of greening beside the road. It is a good city for youngth to live in.

If you die you want to be a cat which lives with a lovely family. All of the family numbers are very kind to you. You just like their families instead of a pet. Every day, after kids finish their homework, you always play with them. Your sister always tells you about her school. When she feels sad, she always talks to you. You not only her family but also her friends. Maybe in a one day, you are too old to live with them, your family always remember the happy time with you.

In my mind, the people that I observed is a student who studies aboard. Maybe he is a high school student. At the weekend, he goes to Starbucks to observe the people to finish his homework. Maybe he wants to finish his portfolio which to apply for the university or maybe drawing is just his interests. I think he is a very staid person. In my mind, a teenager is more enjoyed to play video-game or doing some sports. Nevertheless, he stays in Starbucks for a long time to draw. Moreover, he is very relaxed when he is drawing. In my considered, the drawing must be his habit.

I think he is a student is because he has a babe fat Asian face, brown hair, and small eyes. He is very tall about 183cm. His dressing is not like an ABC. He wears a Chanel hoodie, Burberry pants, and Yeezy. In this case, though his age and weariness, I infer that he is an aboard Asian student. He observes passerby for a long time, then he draws on his sketchbook. When he is observing, the pencil is always handled in his right hand. Sometimes his left-hand hold the sketchbook, sometimes he grabs some coffee to drink. He wears the airports which seem like no one can bother him.

Everyone’s imagination is based on their recognizes. In Berger’s Ways of seeing, talking about the ways which the one is seeing the base on the knowledge which he/she recognizes. In page 7, Berger points out that “The way we see things is affected by what we know or what we believe.” It applies to my guess of the identity of the boy whom I observed. Because as a boarding Chinese student, most of my male friends can afford the luxury. In this case, a lot of them will buy every brand that they like. Moreover, it is common for boarding students. However, ABC who I met is not very careful about the brand. And the style of wear is not totally different. Though age 10, the article illustrates: ” Images were first made to conjure up the appearance of something that was absent… It then showed something or somebody has once looked.”

Find out three objects represent the past-present-future memory. Then using AR technology to create these three objects.

reflection:

It cost me a lot of time on building AR model. This is my first time to do 3D model. So it cost me a lot of time on learning how to use it. However, when I was formilar this app. It is kind of easy to do it. And I need to have patient to adjust the location of each part. Next time, I think I need to add more texture to every unite, in this case my object can become more real. But the how stuff is good.

This is Luying in 2019, I’m studying at Parsons in New York right now. I achieve our dreams! Parsons is a really good university. I learn a lot of knowledge right now. However, I don’t learn the professional course. Please remember to hard work and study English hardly. English is important for you to go abroad and study in the United State. I’m in black long hair, become taller and fatter. It is a sad story, but I will try hard to lose weight! Trust me. Do not mak argue with our mother. She loves you and cares about you. She will never frame to you, in this case, listen to mother’s words. Moreover, I improve a lot of my photography skill. I think I will accommodate the life in New York and work hard.
