ARS Portfolio Reflection Project

1. Short Bio: Originally from China, studying in New York City. Design and technology at Parsons. Mainly interested in UI design.
2. What do you make: User interface design UI is the design of user interfaces for machines and software, such as computers, home appliances, mobile devices, and other electronic devices, with the focus on maximizing usability and the user experience.
3. Aesthetic Values: Dictated by the material I use. Although a lot of my work does draw from my heritage through the inclusion of Arabic lettering as well as the exploration of geometric design.
4. How: Hands-on in a design process, embrace the flaws of layout and color.
5. Why: I want to make objects that look nice but also have a story to tell for people who want to listen.
6. Research Interests: Typically explore materiality and process when approaching a new project. Aided by other forms of research such as deep diving into a topic or market analysis.
7. Future: I’m looking to return to China and pursue my product design future there.

I am a UI designer based in New York City. I am currently pursuing a degree in design and technology at Parsons the New School of Design. With a focus on mobile interface design and user experience, I am very hands-on in my design process; often designing through the manufacturing process. I continue to challenge myself by taking on projects as an opportunity to explore idea and means. Rather than hiding imperfections in a piece, I bring them to the forefront of the concept to highlight the manufacturing process.
