For systainable systems i went on a boat trip with speakers educating myself about manhattans systhems, especially the sewage  , these are some systhems  I observed.

1. Here I took an image of the statue of liberty, this I thought was a system because boats and tourist crosses come by here almost every day, which is a system of transportation. I think it is rather negative for the environment actually because very boat (accept sailboats or rowing boats) use some sort of fuel to make the boat move around so that the goods on it (humans or other) an see the statue etc. Yet this fuel and the usage of the boat surely has some sort of emission, as well as excess that is poisoning the river/ocean around manhatten.

This is a sewage plant and it is a system in this aspect. It is amazing in its design component to make something rather unappetizing look so beautiful and from listening to the speakers really quite amazing from a technical aspect. One of the speakers also said ‘it is a shame that this is hidden away here, it should be in the middle of Manhattan as an art piece, in my opinion’ and I agree, also wouldn’t that be more efficient? as the stage would not have to ‘travel’ as far? However, I felt this was very interesting. Also as the speaker said ‘Is it shit, or is it the shit’. I think it is the later.

This was a garbage hill, where cars and car related metal was taken apart and sorted accordingly. When driving by on the boat, one of the machines even was in motion which was fascinating to see. The can had a claw like attachment at its end and tossed the probably very heavy metal around like it was nothing. It was really cool! Even though there was not an immediate design component visible because the boat drove by so fast, and I feel like I would have to observe it more, it was really beautiful to look at. as the different metals had all sorts of colors and almost looked like a pattern.Also the way they were stacked on top of each other could be seen as a system as well as where each part is assembled individually and why.

4. The last image I chose is a picture of Manhattan from the boat, as Manhattan itself, in my opinion, is a system. All the people that drive and walk in a specific direction at a specific time, all the systems within it-such as the way the streets were laid down, how the underground works etc. it is all one awesome big system. Also on another aspect, as mentioned also in the image with the statue of liberty, boats, watertaxis etc. cross from Manhattan to brooklyn, or sights, all leaves waste behind of some sort in the water. May it be mean people that through plastic overboard or other.
