8m3

PABLO´S TERRACE:

For this project the main idea was to explore and represent an 8m3 space. Therefore we looked around and made a list of things we could use as 8m3 spaces:

8m3 Spaces:

  1. Dances
  2. Bathroom
  3. Kitchen
  4. Pablo´s terrace

Ways to represent it:

  1. Video
  2. 3D sculpture/installation

We decided to concentrate on the movement of Pablo´s terrace since it is a place him and his roommates frequent a lot and a place where quite a bit of activity happens. We decided to do a video representing the movement through lines. We recorded Pablos roommates going in and out of the terrace during the day and then we represented it. Sometimes, they would go in, stay standing and leave, other times, they would sit on the window sill and smoke, others they would just walk outside for a breath of fresh air and leave.

FINAL PIECE:

We did two videos, a short one and a longer one. We then decided, the short video was better since it is easier to understand the whole idea of the movement within the 8m3 space. The lines represent the people, two, that were in that space during the recording. Also, when they sat down our stood up our lines concentrated on a certain point without moving creating circles almost. The lines are supposed to represent Pablos roommates going in and out of the terrace creating a space that is technically not there since the terrace is outdoors. The Space is created by them and their movement within that space. We also decided to add and audio of the sound we hear when Pablo is outside in his terrace to complete the whole idea of the Space. We also made it go from no movement to every movement and from every movement to no movement to show the clean slate we are presented with each day, a slate where we can choose and decide what we want to do with our day. This is what the final piece looks like:
