Day 2 Curiosity Journal (Seminar)

“Give it time”

This is a saying that we say quite a lot. When we are faced by a difficulty we are always told to give it time. “It will heal, give it time” everyone repeats. Today, someone said this to me and I could not help but think about the comment. I felt complete dissent towards this statement. Time is inevitable, time goes by incredibly quickly and if we were to wait for time to solve our problems, we would eventually run out of it. Time never solves a problem. Time makes you gain perspective and realise that conflicts and issues in life are unavoidable. The sooner we realise that and take action, the sooner we will find a worthy solution. Standing up to a problem, facing it and finding solutions is what truly is going to make a problem go away.

Someone with a disease will not get cured with time. Time will kill them if they don´t take action. Someone who has had their heart broken will not feel better with time. Time will impede them from finding someone better. Someone who has lost a family member they love will not feel better with time. Time will make them forget their smell, voice… Time deteriorates things, it makes us forget, but it does not eliminate a situation, an event of the past.

Attitude, determination and deciding to take the bull by the horns is without doubt a better solution than time, which really only takes situations we can take advantage of away from us day by day.
