Curiosity Journal Day 7 (Seminar)

“That is the point, to coincide with people who make you see things you do not see. People who teach you to look at things with different eyes” Mario Benedetti.

I believe this is not only true but it is important. I personally believe that in our society we tend to be very proud of our thoughts, of our personal beliefs and sometimes we don’t listen to what other people have to offer or to say. We are surrounded by knowledge and we are surrounded with people with different interests. No one is the same, we are all unique and we should take advantage of that, not create hate and anger.

Politics, race, religion… are topics that have created hate through the years. I am not saying at all that people should renounce to their beliefs and their values. I believe they should take other people’s opinions and perspectives of the world into consideration. I have been personally been raised Catholic and I have certain beliefs and values that go with that. However, I have not had a problem with coming to Paris and being with people from all religions and that see the world completely differnet. I find this enriching.

Respect is the word I think that sums this feeling up. When people respect each other even if they don’t agree, knowledge is spread, inspiration may arise from getting to know different cultures. We may agree more or less but we should always respect and understand what others have to offer, it may be incredibly enriching, we might end up realising that what we had been believing all this time was a lie. We should never generate a feeling of hate, this is what tares societies apart.
