Curiosity Journal Day 6 (Seminar)

Today in class a teacher mentioned to us we live in a society where we believe a lot of myths.

I found this quite interesting and I started to think about things that I believe or know that are myths and made a list.

Common myths:

  1. When you break a mirror you get bad luck.
  2. There is no such thing as the 5 second rule. It depends on the bacteria on the floor.
  3. Fish don’t have a 3 minute memory. It depends on the type of fish.
  4. The three wise men. Nowhere is there specified there were three.
  5. Chinese fortune cookies. They were actually invented in Japan.
  6. Dropping a penny from a building will kill someone if they get hit.
  7. It takes seven years to digest a swallowed chewing gum.
  8. If you swallow a chewing gum it will stick to your stomach.
  9. You won’t get married if you walk under a scaffolding.
  10. If you open an umbrella inside you get bad luck.
  11. The Great Wall of China can not be seen from Space.
  12. The mustard seed is the smallest seed.
  13. Elephants are afraid of mice.
  14. A stitch in time saves seven.
  15. Early bird always catches the early worm. Not necessarily true if you wake up too early.
  16. Intelligent people are better listeners.
  17. Gender affects listening ability.
  18. Asking questions makes you look stupid.
  19. Sugar makes children hyperactive.
  20. You need to plan everything to do it correctly.
  21. You can always make time.
  22. Time travelling.
  23. Mañana manda.
  24. Exercise can erase a bad diet.
  25. More people are alive today than died in history.
  26. Jesus was born on December 25th.
  27. All things turists do are bad.
  28. The death of Catherine the Great. It was not as disgusting.
