Project 2 “Change, Technology, and Illusion”

For project 2, I was in group with Ryan and Xzavion. The purpose of this project was to develop and combine the idea from project 1.We made a abstract video about phone addiction.

The video starts with the scene at a classroom. In the video, Ryan and Xzavion always use their phone, and never have actual conversation. I was trying to interrupt with them, but they are too busy to talk.

Ops, somebody forgets his phone in the park.

The video divides three to show the individual scene. The idea was to show the difference between three of us when we are in private.

I expressed “time” as change on project 1, and Xzavion is the one who represent change. In the video, he is addicted on phone. he loses his phone, and he changes his behave. Xzavion actually lost his phone in real life, so he was the best person to represent the behavior of a person who lost his phone. Xzavion realized that he lost his phone once he gets back to his home.

Ryan expressed “time” as illusion on project 1, and I was the one who represent illusion. In the video, I played the guy who never use phone, and who believes that human being doesn’t need phone to live.

Xzavion expressed “time” as technology, specifically phone addiction, and Ryan is the one who represent phone addiction. He uses his phone for entire video to show how bad he is addicted to the phone.

On the next day, we all hang out again. Xzavion tells us that he lost his phone.

The ending is a bit dramatic. He commit suicide because he doesn’t know what to do without phone.

I felt It was challenging to do the group project. We all have different way to do the project, and we all had different opinion. The video itself was good; even though the video was abstract, people still could understand the concept because we had time board. For the future project, I would like to learn how to edit on Premiere CC, and I would like to have deeper understanding of video perspective.
